Alex- Love your videos! Have you ever looked into "Open Pilot", a driver assistance program? It is compatible with my 2022 Subaru Outback LTD. Any thoughts? A friend bought a system for his vision impaired son in a new Toyota. He drove back to Ohio with his son and raves about the system. My wife and I are getting older and are a little daunted at driving across the USA to see grandkids--and are considering this system to aid in the long day drives. Thanks!

Great video but I'm still having troubles. I got a new battery in my key fob and it still won't unlock when I grab the handle. I can tell the car isn't recognizing it b/c the Subaru logos on the mirrors aren't lighting up like they use to. I was late to figuring out this feature and now that I have I am struggling without it.

Alex, what can be done to secure the car when being inside? I was sitting in my car, and because I had the key in my pocket, my boyfriend was able to open the driver door even though it was locked! That doesn't feel terribly safe to me! I can't find any way to keep that from happening. Do you know how?

I just bought my Subaru Crosstrek this past Saturday and I'm loving your "How To" videos. This one in particular. I often go to the gym not wanting to bring my keys with me, but I couldn't do that with my old car. Now, I can just leave it in the car and just take my phone and water bottle with me without needing to figure out where to put the car keys.

Alex ... Dixie and I just added a second Subaru to our garage. Our first is a 2015 Forester, the new one is a 2019 Outback with only 16000 on the clock, it's like a new car but has a CD player, something I'm told is no longer available. We love your videos and will watch every single one to learn all the goodies in the new Outback. Your videos are so well done, not too fast, not too slow, with all the right information. One tiny detail ... everybody on UA-cam constantly refers to the public as "you guys" ... step up a level and switch to "you folks"... it's very warm, personable, and my wife, Dixie, likes it 😁. Lots of Subarus are driven by wives, mothers, daughters, and girlfriends. 😂 Keep up the great site !!!

New to the channel...appreciate the info. I don't think our 2012 Outback had the same crossbars, so probably just before they implemented those. Replaced it in 2016 with a crosstrek. Other car is a 2019 STI. I think we Subaru too much, ha!

Thanks for the tips. I might add that #2 with the gas cap holder is also helpful for keeping the cap from picking up dirt from your car while hanging and putting that dirt into the fuel tank when you put the cap back on.

If you are driving with auto high beams on ... any red light will turn to low beam .. even a tail light a long way ahead ... to far ahead.. the high beam will come on before the on coming car is beside you (you look like a jerk)....so I turn it off a lot.... I like the three blink for a lane change.

My Forester XT 2017 doesnt has those controls ...

I just received my 2024 limited crosstrek alpine green. The interior is dark gray and black Two tone leather seats. The limited has a champagne color trim accent that blends in and gives it just a mellow pop of color to the green. Mine looks more green like a dark military green color. (Toyota 4Runner Green) and has no metallic in it aswell. Love it

I’ve had a Subaru for two years now and I still don’t know what all these lights and symbols are. Makes me miss my Honda. It was simple and it never needed repairs.

I'm 77. Had 3 strokes and several mini strokes. So complicated for me... Just baught a Subaru. Great video, but now scared to drive it. Makes me appreciate my 1952 start and drive Chevy.

Could you do a video on Android Auto (or if you already have, post a link)? I use my phone because it's about 50/50 getting Android Auto to work in my Outback. I have to plug in the USB because it won't connect otherwise, and I have to do that before I start the car. Is it me or the system?

Does anyone know if this is only on the Outback or also on the Forrester 2025? TIA!

Hey Alex, no matter what I do I cannot get my new 2024 SOLTERRA to show a QR code to connect the phone to the car through the Solterra app. Any idea how to do that? I tried to follow the help instructions in the app but they don’t work.

Glad I saw this video. When I had the Subaru guy come out to “show” me all the features of my new Subaru I asked if there was a way to get in without the Fob and was told no. Basically it was a waste of a trip because the guy literally showed me nothing. Every thing I’ve learned was here or on other Subaru UA-camr’s page, keep up the great work. Set this up in literally 5 minutes.

Hi Alex - love your videos normally but this Pet Starter Kit is pathetic. Pet owners can buy all the stuff in it for 10% of price anywhere. The only useful thing the Kit should have included (but doesn't) is a tough rear seat protector. Much better if people just make a normal donation to the Animal Care Society :)

With all the due respect...Id stick to the basics with almost the same result: neutral kitchen detergent and a hose is enough.
